FAQ’s

Find answers to all our commonly asked questions below, but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any more questions that aren’t answered here.

  • You should wear comfortable ‘gym-type’ clothing that does not restrict your movement, preferably nothing too baggy so the teacher can see your body movements clearly. You will remove shoes before your class, but it is best to wear socks, and grip socks are preferable especially for reformer classes.

  • We provide all mats and equipment but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. We have lockers for you to use whilst attending your class. You may wish to bring water.

  • Changing room, yes. Showers, no. Our bathrooms are stocked with deodorant, hairbands and sanitary products should you require them.

  • We’re located at 28a Bancroft in Hitchin. Postcode is SG5 1LA. You can find our studio tucked away between Look Sharp Barbers and The Bancroft Youth Centre.

  • There are 1 hour parking bays along the road on Bancroft, no time restrictions after 6:30pm.  The nearest car park is Sainsbury’s which is just a short walk across the road, or any of the town centre car parks are just a short walk away. There is STAFF PARKING ONLY at the studio.

  • Each class is one hour

  • There are a maximum of 8 people in our group classes. Our classes are kept small to allow us to give you the attention that we believe you require from your Pilates teacher. We want to make sure you get the most out of each class you come to.

  • People do Pilates anywhere from once a week to once a day! You will get most benefit out of attending at least twice a week.

  • All our classes are strictly 18+

  • Men are very welcome in all our classes, and lots of men do attend our classes regularly. Joseph Pilates, who created the method, was a man! Pilates is for everyone.

  • From 18 upwards we have no restrictions, our eldest client is currently 88! For group classes we just ask that you can get up and down from the floor without assistance, and for reformer group classes you should be able to get hands and feet in the straps unaided.

  • We can arrange private 1:1 lessons, with one of our pregnancy qualified teachers, from your 2nd trimester onwards. We advise you take a break from Pilates until after your 12 week scan, and then seek medical clearance to exercise from your GP or midwife. We DO NOT take pregnant clients in our regular group classes.

  • We can accommodate with 1:1 lessons and in some of our group classes postnatally - after 6 weeks for normal birth, or after 12 weeks for caesarean section. Please contact us for suitability and to discuss. Our regular group classes are suitable postnatally after 6 months, providing you have medical clearance to do so.

  • As Pilates teachers we are not medically trained to diagnose any injuries or conditions, so we we would always ask you to speak with your GP, Physiotherapist or medical practitioner and get medical clearance before coming to class.

Depending on the severity of your injury our teachers are always happy to accommodate with alternative exercises should you need them. Sometimes a gentler class level or 1:1 lesson may be advised.

  • You can cancel your class at any time before the session has started, however to keep your class credit 12 hours notice must be given. Please make sure you do cancel your spot if you cannot make the class, as it frees up a space for clients that may want to join that class.

  • You can click 'Join Waitlist' on a full class that you'd like to attend. If a space comes up at least 24 hours before the class starts the first person on the waitlist will be added. This will automatically take any available credit, or will prompt you if you do not have any credits available. If it is within the 24 hours before the class starts you will receive an email to offer you the available space, however you will have 90 minutes to reply before the offer expires.

  • Class credits are assigned per month and must be used within that month. Any unused credits will be gone. In special circumstances, however, we can carry credits over. Please just speak to us to arrange this.
